Photo Selected: Best of #IGDC Exhibition

I'm pleased to announce that my portrait of legendary DC emcee Kokayi was selected to be a part of the "Best of IGDC" exhibition to be held at Blind Whino on Nov. 12.

The "Best of IGDC" exhibition will highlight the works of local DC photographers, showing the best sides of the DMV every day. The exhibition is in partnership with Blind Whino SW Arts Club and with support from The Pink Line Project.

The opening reception will be on November 12th, from noon to 5pm. The exhibition will remain on view during normal gallery hours through December 17th.

More info on the exhibition here.

ReCreative Spaces Photography Exhibit: Opening Reception Recap

Thank You!

I am so moved by the outpouring of support from everyone who came out to the opening reception for my photography exhibit at ReCreative Spaces this past July (my first photography installation ever!). From all the emcees who came out to support, to Ben and my Nomadic Wax family who surprised me at the last minute, to DJ Boo holding it down lovely on the 1's and 2's, to all the friend and family who came through.... It was a truly humbling experience.

Emily of ReCreative Spaces was so supportive and helpful in guiding me through the organizing of my first ever gallery show for my photography.  And special thank you to Alejandro for helping me capture photos of the reception (see below). This was truly a family event. My wife, who pushed me to pursue an installation like this in the first place, co-wrote the caption stories with me, and supported me throughout the entire process.

It was an honor to get a preview feature in DCist as well (read here), and AfricasACountry posted a piece about the photos as well (read here).

If you haven't seen the exhibit already, the installation will be up until September 30th at ReCreative Spaces: 3501 Perry Street, Mount Rainier, MD 20712. And if you are interested in purchasing any prints, or some of the limited edition posters I made for the event, you can do through the online store at ReCreative Spaces (see here).
